Centros, in partnership with St Edmundsbury Borough Council, is
developing a vibrant new quarter that will extend the existing town centre
of Bury St Edmunds and provide more shops, cafés and restaurants,
places to live, new public spaces and a great public venue. Arranged around
two new open shopping streets and a public square, the development includes:
- A Debenhams department store and around 35 new shops, cafés
and restaurants
- 62 apartments above the shops
- 850 shoppers’ parking spaces (with 200 underground)
- A new public square and other public open space
- A multi-purpose public venue building
Once the arc development is completed in February
2009, we will move on to redevelop Market Thoroughfare to form a much
wider pedestrian link between the new quarter and Cornhill in the historic
town centre. This building will incorporate a further five new shops with
eight apartments on the upper levels. |
